A step-by-step guide to your own bowl of fruity awesomeness!
Happy Friday! I decided that Friday’s are for smoothie bowls… Which is why I am changing the abbreviation ‘TGIF’ to ‘TGISMD’ – thank goodness it’s smoothie bowl day! Smoothie bowls are such a great snack after work/school to kick-off the weekend. I thought instead of giving you one of my smoothie bowl recipes, today I would write a post to inspire you to get creative and make your own bowl through this easy step-by-step guide! Here we go 🙂
Step 1: Get Blendin’
Add your favourite frozen fruits into a blender. Examples: banana, mango, strawberries, apples, kiwi, blueberries, cherries, or whatever else you love. Then add your favourite liquids. For a cream based shake, you may add: coconut milk, oat milk, almond milk, hemp milk or rice milk – these cream based shakes usually need a little added sugar at the end. For a more watery-based smoothies add: fruit juices (pineapple, apple, orange, green) or coconut water. Fill the liquid so that it is about 1 or 2 inches above the frozen fruit. If you want extra sweetness, you may now add one of the following: a scoop of vegan ice cream (I recommend coconut), flavoured yogurt, dates, sweeten protein powder, maple syrup, honey, agave, stevia or xylitol. Now blend all ingredients on high until smooth. Stop to stir if need be.
Step 2: Add Toppings
Pour your smoothie into a bowl. I recommend you keep your smoothie consistency thick to avoid all the toppings sinking to the bottom of the bowl. Add cut up fruit on top like: bananas, strawberries, blueberries, kiwi, figs, etc. Now add your superfoods: coconut, goji berries, golden berries, maquis berries, almonds, walnuts, cashews, cacao, carob chips, chia seeds, hemp seeds, flax seeds. Moving over to add some grains now: granola, quinoa puffs, buckwheat, rice puffs, or cereal. Lastly, you can also add some exciting final elements like: powders (cinnamon, cacao, matcha, acai), editable flowers or any other visually appealing foods. In mine I use rainbow sesame seeds. Arrange your toppings in a way you think looks best.
Step 3: Snap a Pic & Enjoy
Now that you have made some food art – take a picture! Show your friends and inspire them to make one too. Not only are you enjoying delicious food, you are nourishing your body with the best the planet has to offer. Make sure you tag @withloveemma_ in all your creations! Enjoy 🙂
