This was today’s very delicious and nutritious bowl of creamy oats! Recently I have been trying to stay away from stevia extract and dairy. I have started to notice I consume quite a lot of stevia extract in my protein powders and other food items. Considering there is no real information on how healthy it is, I have been trying to limit this a little more in my diet these days. As for dairy, dairy in large consumptions is not particularly healthy – especially for my blood type and being a woman.
Feel free to sweeten this oat recipe with something other than honey. You can go ahead and use maple syrup, agave syrup, coconut sugar, mashed banana, stevia, apple sauce, dates, or protein powder. I love adding the egg whites to my oatmeal for extra protein every once in a while because they are so creamy and extremely filling! I do not do this that often… Mostly because I like to stick to mostly plant based meals. But the added protein makes me feel really good every once in a while. Something about eggs leaves me with this good feeling afterwards.
Also note, you do not need to add the toppings I have included in the recipe. You can always use your favourite superfood toppings instead. That being said, flax seeds are wonderful for increasing your fibre and omega-3. The cacao nibs are great for boosting your energy first thing in the morning and they are also a wonderful antioxidant! Enjoy this bowl of protein loaded goodness 🙂
