My 9 skincare tips for healthy dewy skin.
I am a skincare fanatic! I would not say I am a “makeup gal” but I love a good glow. I will put money into my skin care products over makeup any day. I thought I would share the tips and tricks I use to keep my skin glowing all year round.
- I only wash my face after a workout or before bed.
This is a game changer. For years, I would over wash my face and I had the worst acne. The best thing I ever did for my skin was stop washing it in the morning. In fact, if you are lazy and lying around the couch all day, don’t even bother washing your face before bed or in the morning. Let your skin breathe for 24 hours once in a while. This seems to work for me even though it may seem kind of gross. In my experience, my skin dries out when I over wash and then my oil production speeds up which results in acne. Your body generates nourishing oils as you sleep that give you a natural glow. I never want to strip those oils from my face if I don’t have to. Give it a try! This may work for you.
- Sunscreen every day!
I know this is repetitive but to fight pigmentation and wrinkles caused from sun damage, slop on that sunscreen every day. I try to find a moisturizer with SPF30 already in it to really be safe. Don’t be fooled by the winter weather, the reflection of the snow and the sun still causes damage. Wear sunscreen every day!
- Skip foundation and use a tinted moisturizer.
I do not even own foundation. I strictly use a tinted moisturizer. I find it looks more natural, dewy and it’s far less heavy on the skin.
- Jade Roller + Gha Sha for anti-inflammation
I have been using these tools to fight inflammation and wrinkles. I have noticed a big difference since I started.
- Face masks regularly.
I love to splurge on a couple good quality face masks. I really enjoy a light rose petal or vitamin c mask for everyday use and a charcoal mask for detoxification once a week.
- Toner before makeup.
If you are prone to acne, I would recommend trying a toner. You can use rose water, witch hazel, or buy a brand that works well for your skin. Using a toner minimizes your pores so that you are less likely to get acne from your makeup.
- Before Bed Products I use:
- Mild Cleanser: with a dry face, cleanse you face with a product you love.
- Wash your face.
- Facial Oil: Add a lightweight facial oil that works for your skin type. I recommend argon, jojoba, morula or rose hip oil. (skip if facial oils do not work with your skin type).
- Jade roll or gha sha.
- Moisturize: apply a small amount of moisturizer to your face.
- Sweat it out
My skin always looks amazing after a hot yoga or sauna sess. Sweating out the toxins gives you a natural and healthy glow.
- Change your bedsheets weekly.
This one is important. Every Sunday, I wash my bed sheets. Bacteria builds up overtime on your sheets and that can cause acne. If you are prone to acne, try and have two pillow sets and switch the pillow cases every three days.
Those are my tips for glowing skin. I believe eating a balanced diet is important in addition to these suggestions. I would love to hear your skincare tips in a comment below.
